JAIPUR: A revolver has been recovered from the locker of a working general manager of Urban Cooperative Bank, who was arrested from Ajmer by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting bribe.
ACB sleuths had arrested Brijraj Singh for accepting a bribe of around Rs one lakh on Tuesday and were stunned when they recovered the revolver from one of his lockers during a raid.
Singh had also accepted an LCD TV from a businessman for issuing him a no objection certificate, ACB
officials said.
"During the search, we have recovered a revolver from one of the lockers and jewellery worth around Rs 1 lakh," IGP Umesh Mishra told TOI about the raid conducted on Wednesday.
Asked if the recovery of revolver was a matter of concern, Mishra replied in the positive.
"Yes it is and we will investigate if the man has the license of this pistol or not. Prima facie it appears that he has its license, but we are investigating the matter," he said.
Highlighting the incident leading to the arrest of Singh, Mishra said, "Marble businessman from Kishangarh, Govind Kumar, had applied for a no objection certificate from the Urban Cooperative Bank branch at Kesarganj, Ajmer, for opening a hotel.
"Kumar claimed that he had already given Singh an LCD TV as bribe.
"Since Singh demanded more money for the certificate, the complainant approached us and we laid a trap. Subsequently, Singh was arrested on Tuesday for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh," he said.
More searches were also conducted by the ACB sleuths at bank officer's house at Devi Nagar in the city.
